ENAHPA’s Young
Adult Council is dedicated to continuing the efforts of our
leaders through promoting insightful educational opportunities
for Ethiopian Medical Students, Short-term internship programs
for North American students wishing to study abroad in Addis
Ababa, Ethiopia, sponsorship of Ethiopian Medical Students
through international elective training conference and most
recently working to establish an “early adoption” program for 7th
and 8th grade Ethiopian students interested in the
field of medicine.
An
important focus of ENAHPA’s Young Adult Council is building
relationships with global partners dedicated to addressing
the needs of adolescents and young adults. Some of our major
partners are: the Ethiopia Students Association
International, the International Federation of Medical
Students Association and Addis Ababa University.
Our primary
goal through these programs is to encourage our young adults to
give back to the global community at a young age. When youthful
energy comes together with the wisdom and temperament of those
who have created the path before us it leads to great ideas,
great new programs and a stronger more vibrant community. With
your help, we hope to create more scholarships for Ethiopian
students and also teach and fund initiatives that help to build
a healthier Ethiopia.
Accomplishment and Project
Creating a scholarship that
will send up to 4 medical students each year to the African
Medical Training Congress. This year we sent three students to
the Congress, to read their report please click here:
Establishing our pilot study-abroad internship with Addis Ababa
University for student studying in the field of medicine to
embark upon an 8-week study abroad program that will include
participation in ENAHPA’s annual Medical/Surgical Mission.
Our book
drive is one of our cornerstone initiatives in ENAHPA, we can
always use help in procuring books for Medical, Law, Business,
Pharmacy and other students studying at Universities in Ethiopia
for more information please contact Engeda Selemon Asfaw.
Currently,
we are working towards creating our 7th and 8th
grade sponsorship program that will allow 10 students,
interested in the field of medicine, to have a fully funded
scholarship up to the time of graduation. It is our intent to
place these students after 8th grade in a learning
facility that will ensure the positive progression of brilliant
young minds.
